This week, the talk in the Fringe community has been the promo that Fox released as a challenge to the worry over the move to Friday’s “death slot”. Honestly, my first reaction was relief: I took it to mean Fox’s way of telling the Fringe community that no, they were most definitely not sentencing Fringe to an untimely demise by moving it to Friday.
Even though Fox execs and the Fringe executive producers had been saying as much, it was still nice to see a more visual confirmation. To get an idea about how popular this promo has become, it currently has over 100,000 views on YouTube; most of the entertainment blogs have run at least one post on it, and last night even CNN ran a piece. And while this might not seem like a huge number of views compared to some things, it’s certainly more than any other Fringe promo or video I’ve seen.
Ultimately, the promo seems to already be doing what Fox had hoped: getting more people talking about, and interested in, Fringe…
